Rated 0 out of 5KSh500Legends of Kaya and Other Short Stories weaves investigative tales across diverse realms and intricate mysteries that transcend time and technology: from the mystic depths of Kaya village to the digital revolution of Enkare Nyirobi and the fate-steered villages in the Konga region. In “Legends of Kaya”, Niara's quest for adventure unravels ancient secrets of the Ngozi Forest, revealing familial ties and an ancient curse. With Keya's help, she navigates mystical encounters, learning the essence of unity and respect from the forest's spirits. Meanwhile, in "Bit by Byte'' a group of youth and teenagers unearth a cyber threat puzzle within a cutting-edge mobile payment app. Collaboration against the elusive Chimera exposes the power of trust and knowledge in reshaping a safer digital landscape. Simultaneously, in “Horse with No Rider”, three villages at a crossroad vie for the favour of Troya, an enigmatic legendary horse who is believed to bring hope and shape their future, results in an alliance leadership of the region amidst unforeseen challenges and fate's intervention.Things Fall Apart
Rated 0 out of 5KSh990Okonkwo is the greatest wrestler and warrior alive, and his fame spreads throughout West Africa like a bush-fire in the harmattan. But when he accidentally kills a clansman, things begin to fall apart. Then Okonkwo returns from exile to find missionaries and colonial governors have arrived in the village. With his world thrown radically off-balance he can only hurtle towards tragedy. First published in 1958, Chinua Achebe's stark, coolly ironic novel reshaped both African and world literature, and has sold over ten million copies in forty-five languages. This arresting parable of a proud but powerless man witnessing the ruin of his people begins Achebe's landmark trilogy of works chronicling the fate of one African community, continued in Arrow of God and No Longer at Ease. 'His courage and generosity are made manifest in the work' Toni Morrison 'The writer in whose company the prison walls fell down' Nelson Mandela 'A great book, that bespeaks a great, brave, kind, human spirit' John Updike With an Introduction by Biyi BandeleGrain of Wheat (EAEP)
Rated 0 out of 5KSh848NGUGI WA THIONG'O is undoubtedly Kenya's most prolific writer. From the time he launched himself as a pioneer African writer with Weep Not, Child (1964), there was no stopping Ngugi. Weep Not, Child was quickly followed up by The River Between (1965) and A Grain of Wheat (1967), both of which confirmed Ngugi as a writer of great ambition. The publication of Petals of Blood (1977) and the pre-publication staging of the Gikuyu version of I Will Marry When I Want (a play), swiftly led to his detention without trial by Kenya's authorities. After detention, Ngugi issued Caaitani Mutharaba-ini, (Devil on the Cross —1982) and Matigari ma Njirungi (1986), a novel in Gikuyu. Ngugi is also a renowned playwright which such works as The Black Hermit (1968) and The Trial of Dedan Kimathi (1976), co-authored with Micere Githae Mugo. Besides novels and plays, he has also written volumes of essays and has published an anthology of short stories — Secret Lives (1963). All Ngugi's novels are published in the Peak Library. "A Grain of Wheat is about Kenya on the verge of independence. Africans and Europeans alike pause, in the lull between the fighting and the new world, to see what they have gained and lost. They examine their motives, and find them dubious, and their achievements, which often amount to very little. Mr. Ngugi writes well and has a real talent for portraying the African background!'
